NightLight Tool
Digital management of public lighting
A dedicated geographic information system for managing public lighting assets: every light point surveyed, its condition tracked, faults reported and repairs scheduled.
An UrbanGovTools Platform solution
A complete, detailed view of the lighting network
NightLight Tool is part of the suite of planning tools hosted on UrbanGovTools Platform. UrbanGovTools Platform is the territorial governance platform developed by GéoDataNum. It brings together urban planning, public service management and revenue tracking, on a database shared by every department.
Deployed in an area, the tool improves visibility and safety in public spaces and cuts unnecessary energy use. Where needed, it also handles monitoring and maintenance of the water network.
Everything is driven from clickable elements: the map, charts, indicators, lists and location points.
- See the whole network, streetlight by streetlight
- Every light point is identified, geolocated and described: lamp type, power, pole, condition, installation date.
- Cut the energy bill
- Lights left on needlessly, faulty lamps, areas using too much power: the tool finds them and lets you adjust the lighting.
- Make public spaces safer
- A reported fault is a located fault. Poorly lit districts show up on the map and are dealt with by priority.
Digitise your public lighting roadmap
Visibility of the network
An overview of the lighting network, for the whole municipality or a single district.
Identification and geolocation
Every streetlight has an ID, a position and a technical record.
Updates and reporting
Professionals keep the data up to date; residents report faults from their phones.
Easier collaboration
The municipality, the operator and contractors work from the same information.
Alerts on anomalies
Anomalies are flagged automatically and dealt with faster.
Scheduling of repairs
Maintenance and new light points are planned in the tool.
How a deployment works
-
Survey
Field survey of the light points, on a GPS-enabled tablet.
-
Database
Structuring the assets and publishing them on the platform.
-
Operation
Monitoring of consumption, faults and reports.
-
Decision
Maintenance plan, extension plan, budget decisions.
Map and inventory stay linked: every row in the dashboard matches a light point on the map, and vice versa.
Aerial drone surveys and photogrammetry are carried out in partnership with MultiRotor Services.
What the municipality gains
A reliable inventory of its assets, controlled energy spending, repairs planned rather than endured, and a single point of contact for everyone involved in the network.
Let’s talk about your lighting network
We work from the initial survey through to the launch of the platform, including training for your staff. A demonstration on part of your municipality can be arranged using your own data.
